Green Eyed Monster is a thriller that incorporates urban legends rooted in Hispanic folklore.
Embedded into the film are clues that lead to $10,000. David (Nick Barton) convinces his friends
that there is money-for-the-taking at his uncle's ranch in south Texas. His cousin Ashley (Estella
Gomez) warns them about the legend of the old place and it's grim history, but the promise of
riches is all too enticing. In trying to find the money, they uncover something buried within us all as
one by one they mysteriously disappear.
In an interactive twist the film actually has clues embedded into it that can lead the audience to
$10,000. After all, if you're watching a film about people searching for money, wouldn't it be more
interesting if you were able to search for it also, and actually find it?
This is the case with the Green Eyed Monster Contest: THE SEARCH. There are clues to three
prizes hidden within the film. Each prize has it's own set of clues, each set of clues will reveal a
puzzle and a "bundle" of money.
This type of contest has been around for decades, sometimes called Armchair Treasurehunts. The
idea for this contest actually came to me after I read about a book called MASQUERADE, where
clues to a golden hare were hidden within the pages of the book.
The clues can come in any form during the entire film: something you see or hear, something
done, the way it's put together or even the way the story falls apart.
As I wrote the film I researched these types of contests, and their corresponding conundrums, and
Green Eyed Monster was born. I should mention that this whole process spanned several years so
the bundles shouldn't be too easy to find. But they can in fact be found. If they aren't, as stated in
our Rules and Regulations, the money will be donated to charity.
The clues can be found by anyone willing to invest their time, intellect, and skill into the search. You
do not have to go to a physical location to find the money. You can, participate, and submit your
answers all from the comfort of your own home.
